Thorpe Acre Junior school offers a wide range of enrichment activities to support the PSHCE and SMSC (Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural) learning throughout the school year. The school has a monthly value (such as 'resilience' or 'kindness') where we focus on how to incorporate that value into our daily lives. We hold a range of differently themed events where children have the opportunity to discuss and get involved with a wide range of social issues e.g. anti-bullying week.
Year 6 visit Warning Zone Interactive Life Skills Centre in Leicester to learn how to keep themselves safe in a variety of situations (https://www.warningzone.org.uk). The children find out about 'What's in the News?' and enjoy the opportunity to debate and discuss current issues.
Children and their families can access the support of the school nurse by booking an appointment. They can be contacted on 07520 615382 or 0116 2156795, where you can leave a message and they will ring you back.
The school has achieved both the Beyond Bullying award and Healthy School award, with the support of the school council who are responsible for supporting the work we do towards improving the school.
