Caterpillars
This term, Summer 2024, some children in Poplar are learning about metamorphosis in Science.
We are carefully watching these caterpillars and look forward to them transforming into butterflies. They have grown so much in the past 2 weeks and the children enjoy watching them. Soon the caterpillars will have stored enough energy, climb to the top of the cup and attach themselves to the underside of the lid. There they will hang in a "J" shape, moult one last time and harden into chrysalides. We will then place the lid inside their hatching habitat (a mesh net structure) and wait for the butterflies to emerge!
